Except for his medical training, Dr. Kneessy has lived his entire life in Suffolk County, Long Island. Practicing plastic surgery in Suffolk and raising his family here was a priority to this Babylon-raised native. So, becoming a partner in Suffolk Plastic Surgeons, P.C. in 2003 after practicing there for three years, and settling into the St. James community, was a natural progression. The state-of-the-art Suffolk Plastic Surgeons facility in East Setauket, complete with a fully-accredited ambulatory surgical suite and a luxurious medical spa, Spa Belle Meade, was a perfect fit.

Dr. Kneessy’s medical education began just a stone’s throw away from Suffolk Plastic Surgeons, with undergraduate studies in nearby State University of New York at Stony Brook where he graduated in 1988. Thereafter, he graduated from the College of Medicine at State University of New York at Buffalo in June, 1992.

Dr. Kneessy has the distinction of dual medical fellowships. In 1992, he began his five-year residency in General Surgery at New York Hospital Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. In 1997, he accepted a one-year Burn Fellowship at Westchester County Medical Center where he received specialized training in burns, as well as plastic surgery and microsurgery. Thereafter, Dr. Kneessy completed a fellowship in Plastic Surgery at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, after which he returned to New York in June, 2000, and began his career at Suffolk Plastic Surgeons that September. He has been Board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 2003.

Dr. Kneessy is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine and, in addition to University Hospital, has privileges at several area hospitals, including J.T. Mather Memorial, St. Charles Hospital, Brookhaven Memorial, as well as St. Catherine of Sienna Hospital.

Dr. Kneessy is a member of many medical societies including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Medical Association (AMA), New York State Society of Plastic Surgeons (NYSSPS), the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) and the Suffolk County Medical Society (SCMS). Dr. Kneessy is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Kneessy is an active member of Blanca’s House, a local not-for-profit charitable organization of volunteer healthcare providers. He routinely donates his time and surgical skills and travels on missions to underprivileged countries throughout Latin America to perform hundreds of surgeries on the poor. Dr. Kneessy has been active in the parish and school activities at Saints Philip and James Church in St. James for over 13 years and is a member of the Father’s Guild at St. Anthony’s High School. He is also involved in Good Shepherd Hospice and Hope House Ministries, both in Port Jefferson, New York.

When he’s not operating, Dr. Kneessy also enjoys drawing and painting the human form. In fact, it was this passion and aptitude for art that lead him to choose a career in plastic surgery. Dr. Kneessy also likes jogging, Disney World, and traveling with his wife and two children. He’s wild about his two dogs, dabbles in the craft of beer-making, enjoys barbequing, and loves coaching his son’s sports teams.
